AccuraSea1 synthetic seawater mix made by an "Old Salt"

August 24, 2025

AccuraSea1 was formulated by Julian Sprung in 2015, and was first introduced that year at the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America in Washington DC. Julian has been preparing AccuraSea1 in commercial quantities at Two Little Fishies since 2017, and we  still produce it in small batches, still with Julian as a part of the production process. Little by little we have gained an enthusiastic following of hobbyists, coral farms, public aquariums and university labs who love our synthetic seawater mix. Fast-dissolving and producing a seawater that has parameters most similar to natural seawater found on coral reefs, AccuraSea1 is suitable for maintaining all marine fishes, corals, invertebrates, and marine plants. AccuraSea1 is even used for the spawning and rearing of delicate coral larvae.
